Arteriovenous Malformations and Fistulas
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are defects of the arteries and veins that can cause seizures, small strokes or bleeding in the brain.
Carotid Artery Stenosis - Endarterectomy and Angioplasty with Stenting
Carotid artery stenosis is the narrowing of the main arteries in the neck that supply blood to the brain. This is the most common form of stroke and is usually caused by a blood clot plugging an artery
Endarterectomy and Angioplasty with Stenting
Endarterectomy can prevent the risk of stroke in symptomatic patients. The artery is exposed through an incision in the side of the neck to remove Atherosclerotic plaque. For high-risk patients who cannot undergo surgery, angioplasty and stenting may offer a useful alternative to blood thinners.
Endoscopic Brain Surgery
Endoscopic brain surgery is a minimally invasive way to treat a variety of brain disorders such as tumors, aneurysms, cysts, and hydrocephalus (build up of fluid in the brain). Using an endoscope, the surgeon can gain access to the brain via a small incision into the skull or enter through the nostril. The endoscope with its microscopic camera, allows the surgeon to guide instruments to the correct area of the brain. Since endoscopic surgery is less invasive than traditional surgery, patients have shorter recovery periods.
Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty
In these relatively low risk procedures, the vertebra is injected with a plastic material which hardens and provides support (vertebroplasty). A kyphoplasty restores the height of a collapsed vertebra utilizing a balloon before injecting the plastic.
